The Digital PawPrint QMS allows you to keep a history of flea treatments for each dog and record when the next treatment is expected.
Flea treatments can be added individually from a Dog Card, or puppies can be updated together from the Litter page when several puppies receive the same treatment.
Adding a flea treatment from a Dog Card
Start by going to My Dogs and opening the Dog Card for the dog you want to update.
From the dog’s health records, select the option to add a Flea Treatment.
Enter the details of the treatment, including:
Treatment date – the date the flea treatment was given
Product – the flea treatment or product used
Follow-up date – when the next treatment is due
Notes – any additional information you want to record
Once saved, the treatment becomes part of the dog’s ongoing health record.
Each new treatment should be added as a new record so that Digital PawPrint can build a history over time.
Why the follow-up date is important
Where appropriate, add the date when the dog’s next flea treatment is expected.
Digital PawPrint uses the follow-up date to help you monitor when another treatment may be required.
If this date passes without a newer flea treatment being recorded, Digital PawPrint can show the treatment as overdue on the dog’s page.
This makes it easier to identify dogs whose parasite control records may need attention without having to manually check every treatment date.
The alert is based on the dates you enter into Digital PawPrint. The follow-up date should therefore reflect the parasite control programme you are actually following.
Flea treatment email reminders
You can also choose to receive an email reminder when a flea treatment becomes due.
Email reminders are optional.
When enabled, Digital PawPrint can notify you when the follow-up date recorded against the treatment has been reached.
These reminders are designed to support your record keeping and should not be treated as veterinary advice about how frequently a product should be used.
Always follow your preventative healthcare arrangements, veterinary advice and the manufacturer’s instructions for the flea treatment being used.
Updating puppies from the Litter page
When treating a litter of puppies, you may not need to open every puppy’s Dog Card individually.
Flea treatments can also be added from the Litter page, allowing several puppies to be updated at the same time.
For example, if the puppies in a litter receive the same flea treatment on the same date, you can record the treatment once and apply it to the relevant puppies.
Digital PawPrint then adds the treatment information to each individual puppy’s record.
This can save considerable time when maintaining records for a litter.
When should I use the Dog Card or Litter page?
Use the Dog Card when:
- You are updating an individual adult dog
- Only one puppy requires treatment
- A dog receives a different product from the rest of the litter
- The treatment or follow-up date is different
- You want to record notes specific to that dog
Use the Litter page when:
- Several puppies receive the same treatment
- The same product is being used
- The treatment date is the same
- You want to update multiple puppy records together
Even when the treatment is entered in bulk, each puppy still receives its own flea treatment record on its Dog Card.
Building a treatment history
Do not replace an older flea treatment when another treatment is given.
Add a new treatment instead.
Over time, the Dog Card can then show a history of:
- When flea treatments were given
- Which products were used
- When follow-up treatments were expected
- Any notes associated with the treatment
For puppies, these records can also form part of the digital Dog Card that is retained by the breeder and transferred to the puppy’s new owner.
This helps provide the new owner with a clearer record of the parasite treatments the puppy received while it was with the breeder.

For each flea treatment, try to record:
What was given, when it was given and when the next treatment is due.
Digital PawPrint can then help organise the treatment history, highlight overdue dates and, if you choose, send a reminder when the next flea treatment becomes due.
