My Tasks helps you keep a structured record of the routine activities carried out within your breeding establishment.
Many of the procedures described within your policies happen repeatedly. Dogs are monitored, accommodation is cleaned, feeding routines are followed, equipment is checked and procedures are periodically reviewed.
My Tasks provides somewhere to record those activities as they happen.
Rather than simply telling Digital PawPrint that something has been completed, you can record the date and add information about what was done or anything that changed.
This gradually creates an evidence trail showing how the procedures described within your policies are being put into practice.
How My Tasks connects with your policies
Your policies and SOPs explain how your breeding establishment operates.
My Tasks records the activities that support those procedures.
For example, your cleaning policy may describe your normal cleaning routine and the products you use. My Tasks allows you to create ongoing records showing that the routine has been carried out.
If something changes, you can record that too.
If your normal disinfectant is unavailable and you use an appropriate alternative, recording this within the task creates useful context rather than simply marking the activity as complete.
Your policy explains what you do. My Tasks provides a record of you doing it.
Different tasks happen at different intervals
Digital PawPrint organises recurring activities according to how frequently they normally need attention.
These can include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activities, depending on the particular task and the procedures within your establishment.
Examples include feeding and monitoring records, cleaning and enrichment activities, emergency plan checks, introductions of new dogs, fire drills and policy reviews.
The purpose is not to suggest that every breeder must carry out every activity on exactly the same timetable.
Your actual procedures should reflect your licence conditions, policies, preventative healthcare arrangements and the circumstances of your own establishment.
Why isn’t My Tasks just a checklist?
A tick tells you that somebody says something happened.
A record tells you what happened and when.
This distinction becomes particularly useful when something outside the normal routine occurs.
Instead of simply ticking “Cleaning complete”, you might record that the usual disinfectant was unavailable and an alternative was used.
Instead of simply ticking “Monitoring complete”, you can record an observation that needs to be followed up.
This gives the record context and creates a much clearer history of how the establishment has been managed.
The Compliance Score
Activities within My Tasks can also contribute to your Digital PawPrint Compliance Score.
The score is designed to draw your attention to parts of your Digital PawPrint records that may require updating.
It should be treated as a management and record keeping tool, not confirmation that your breeding establishment complies with every requirement of its licence.
Your licensing authority remains responsible for determining compliance with your licence and the legislation that applies to your establishment.
Why My Tasks is useful during an inspection
The objective is not to create records purely for an inspection.
The value comes from recording activities as they happen.
If an inspector later asks how a particular procedure is carried out, you can show both the policy describing your normal procedure and the associated records showing how that procedure has been implemented over time.
That is a much stronger concept than the current copy’s “check things off to prove compliance” approach.
